GREEN LIGHT FOR DESERT ORGANIC SOLUTIONS TO OPEN
PALM SPRINGS, CA – June 3, 2010: Desert Organic Solutions, one of only two medicinal marijuana dispensaries legally sanctioned by the City of Palm Springs, has received its final inspections and is approved to open for business. The brand new facility will open to its members at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 5. Located near Interstate 10 at Indian Canyon, the facility at 19486 Newhall Street establishes a new standard for providing patients with safe, reliable access to affordable high-quality medicinal marijuana.
Earlier in the week, Gary Cherlin, President of Desert Organic Solutions, met with inspectors from the Police Department and other city officials to ensure that all City requirements were met. Palm Springs Police certified that the facility was in full compliance with all regulations and granted their approval on Wednesday. The final approval was granted by the Building & Safety department on Thursday, June 3. Desert Organic Solutions is a legal collective. Membership is open to all qualified patients with a physician’s recommendation that the applying individual qualifies as a “qualified patient” or “primary caregiver” as defined and legally authorized by the laws of the Compassionate Use Act of 1996 and SB 420.
Cherlin states “We have had tremendous support from the City of Palm Springs and are looking forward to providing safe reliable access to medical cannabis.” He added “We will be serving patients from the Coachella Valley and the Inland Empire, and that’s why we chose such an accessible location just 100 yards from the Indian Avenue exit of Interstate 10.”
To those that question the notion of marijuana being described as medicine, Cherlin says “Cannabis sativa has been used therapeutically for thousands of years. Perhaps the reason that it’s so misunderstood today is because it’s natural rather than prepared in a laboratory by big drug companies. It does have several well-documented beneficial effects.”
Among these are: the amelioration of nausea and vomiting, stimulation of hunger in chemotherapy and AIDS patients, lowered intraocular eye pressure (shown to be effective for treating glaucoma), as well as general analgesic effects (pain reliever).
Desert Organic Solutions is a collective providing support and alternative health resources to people facing health challenges. A California non-profit organization, our primary goal is to advocate and support a proactive approach to health management by providing a local, affordable, and safe environment in which to acquire medicinal cannabis.
